Though this breed is considered to be rather healthy, some bloodlines are prone to a number of hereditary problems. Some bloodlines are more healthy than others, but there are no perfect dogs. Hip and elbow dysplasia is a common problem in all large breeds. It’s a malformation of a joint that tends to develop in arthritis as the dog matures. Thought this disorder is hereditary, not all dogs with defective genes become dysplastic. Hip or elbow dysplasia develops because of much intensive exercise or over weight at the early age.
