Gold retrievers are a popular puppy breed, thus many puppies are usually available at any time.
This breed is not for everyone as it has several disadvantages. These dogs are rather large and need plenty of room in the house and a large fenced yard to run and play. They need much exercise and training (20-30 minutes twice a day) to be in a good form. These dogs shed constantly, especially twice a year and require regular brushing and bathing. Also the breed is prone to several genetic diseases: hip dysplasia, allergies, eye and heart problems. These dogs make poor guardians and will not attack intruders.
